UVU to build $1.5 million motor pool facility

Utah Valley University is set to build a $1.5 million home for its motor pool and parking departments. UVU Associate Vice President of Facilities Jim Michaelis says the current home for the departments — literally a house on the northeast edge of the Orem campus — is too small to meet the needs of the growing school.

UVU’s board of trustees approved construction of the two-story, 12,000-square-foot building Thursday. The existing 6,000 square-foot building will be torn down. Construction is expected to begin soon. The building should be ready for use next summer. It will house 25 employees. The Salt Lake Tribune
