The museum is expected to break ground later this year. Other projects that made requests for funding from the committee included the Living Planet Aquarium, The Herriman Innovation Center, the Utah Shakespearean Festival and the Southwest Wildlife Foundation. The subcommittee will make its recommendations on what projects to fund to the executive appropriations committee in the coming weeks. Daily Herald

Thanksgiving Point asks legislature for $1.5 million for museum
Officials from Thanksgiving Point came to Capitol Hill on Wednesday to ask for $1.5 million to complete the funding of a Museum of Natural Curiosity. Thanksgiving Point has raised $24.5 million for the project and hoped that the state will kick in the final portion of the money for the $26 million museum.
