LDS Church plans high-tech tower for Provo Missionary Training Center

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced that plans are in place to raze the existing Melvin J. Ballard Building and replace it with a state-of-the-art structure at the heart of the Missionary Training Center campus in Provo. The Ballard Building has just two floors "above grade," or above ground level. The new building is being designed to have several more floors above grade. Among the features of the yet-to-be-named new building are classrooms that will house "modern technological resources" to be used in preparing young men and women and older couples for missionary service. The demolition of the Ballard Building will take place in 2012, with construction of the new facility anticipated to be completed in 2013. Daily Herald
