Allied Waste officially announced last week that it will contract out the collection of Old Town's recycling to Curb It Recycling, the provider that formerly collected the area's recycling.
According to a press release from Allied Waste, Curb It will collect recycling from 1,000 of the 14,000 homes serviced by Allied Waste. Manager of Government Affairs and Municipal Services for Allied Waste Gordon Raymond said the company was glad to be supporting a local company and believed that Curb It had better equipment to handle Old Town's unique terrain.
